A man has been taken to hospital after a balcony on a block of flats collapsed.
A woman and child were rescued from their second floor flat by firefighters following the incident in Union Street, Montrose, Angus.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 11.05am on Tuesday.
Police said a 31-year-old man has been taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The woman and child could not get out of the building safely following the collapse of the first floor balcony and firefighters used a nine metre ladder to bring them to safety.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said a structural engineer has been called to the scene with the area cordoned off.
A police spokesman said: “Police Scotland are currently in attendance in Union Street, Montrose, along with other emergency services, in response to a structural collapse of part of a building.
“A 31 year old man has been taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries, and all residents within the building have been safely evacuated.
“Enquiries are ongoing as to the cause of the problem.”
