Man in court over alleged charity tin thefts

Aberdeen Sheriff Court.

A man has appeared in court in connection with the alleged theft of 15 charity tins across the North-east.

It comes after police were alerted to incidents in Peterhead, Turriff and Aberdeen city centre during November, where charity tins, believed to contain an estimated three-figcure sum, were reported stolen.

Warren McLean, 41, of Macduff, appeared in private at Aberdeen Sheriff Court charged in connection with the matter.

He is facing 15 counts of theft, a charge of assault and one of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.

McLean made no plea and the case was committed for further examination. He was remanded in custody.
