A MAN has been arrested after an alleged disturbance in a North-east town.
The 43-year-old man was taken into custody after armed police, involving firearms officers, were called to a home on Meethill Place in Peterhead.
Two specialist ambulance response teams were also called to assist police as well as fire crews.
The alleged incident, which is believed to have lasted for almost seven hours, concluded at around 1pm.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Following a policing operation in the Meethill Place area of Peterhead earlier today, a 43 year old man has been taken into police custody.”
Inspector Simon Reid of the Buchan Community Policing Team, said: “Officers wish to thank the local community for their co-operation today as we appreciate there has been some disruption in the area as a result of the operation in the Meethill Place area.
“I would like to reassure people in the area there is no threat to the wider public, but there will be a police presence in the area while inquiries continue.”
