A man has died after a fire in a flat in a north-east town.
Crews from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene, at Reidhaven Square in Keith, at 9.15pm last night.
The crews used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera to put out the blaze, which was in the Masonic Court flat complex.
A spokesman for the fire service said: “We had four crews in attendance at the scene, from Fochabers, Keith and two from Huntly.”
Police Scotland were also in attendance at the incident, after receiving a call from the fire service.
A police spokesman said officers were on scene to “ensure the safe working environment of the fire service”.
He said: “We received a call from the fire service to attend a fire in a residential property in Keith, where one male has sadly died.
“Local road closures are still in place as a result of the incident.”
A full investigation is expected to be carried out today.
The police spokesman said there was no reason to believe the fire was suspicious.
The A96 through Keith has been blocked as a result of the fire, with diversions in place.
Drivers can take Bridge Street and Balloch Road to re-join the A96.
