A MAN has died following an accident involving a combine harvester.
The 71-year-old farm worker was in a field behind New Deer’s Costcutter store when the incident happened just after 3pm yesterday.
Emergency services treated the man – who is believed to be local – for about an hour in the field, but he died at the scene.
His body was subsequently flown to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by helicopter.
Police today said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
The Health and Safety Executive has also been informed.
The ambulance service confirmed an ambulance crew and helicopter were in attendance.
A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed their first responder unit had attended, but that a full crew had not been required.
