A 35-year-old man has been charged with two alleged break-ins to vehicles in a North-east town.
Police in Ellon dealt with two incidents after a Ford Mondeo was broken into on Ythan Terrace, Ellon, on Sunday, August 20.
Later that day an Audi was also targeted on the town’s Hospital Road with jewellery worth a low four figure sum taken.
This jewellery has since been recovered.
A report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal and the man is expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court at a later date.
Detective Sergeant Bruce Buntain said: “Thank you to the members of the public who assisted police with these particular inquiries.”
He added: “I would once again appeal to the public to always ensure your doors are locked and secure.
“The North-east generally is an extremely safe place to live, however it doesn’t mean you should ever be complacent when it comes to the security of your valuables.
“By leaving the doors to your homes or vehicles unlocked you simply give would-be thieves a helping hand. Don’t become a victim and make sure you lock up.”
