Two people have been charged with alleged human trafficking offences in the North-east.
A 19-year-old woman and 20-year-old man have been charged following an operation in Elgin yesterday.
The pair were detained during inquiries carried out by officers from the Public Protection Unit.
Detective Inspector Alan Armit, who led the operation, said: “I would like to thank those who provided information to us in connection with this inquiry.
“Human trafficking investigations are complex and uniquely challenging in nature, involving the support and coordination of a number of partners.
“Awareness of this type of criminality by members of the public is critical in the identification of potential victims and offenders, and I would appeal to anyone with information to contact Police Scotland on 101 or The Modern Slavery Helpline on 08000 121700.”
A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
