A North-east man and his dog have completed a sponsored 20-mile walk in aid of the charity supporting his wife through her illness.
Davie Mathieson and his 17-month-old golden retriever Sandy set off from their home in Crimond and walked via Fetterangus, Mintlaw and Longside before reaching the finishing line at Peterhead Academy.
The 59-year-old initially wanted to raise £1,000 for Maggie’s Aberdeen but has smashed his target within two weeks.
The pair began training two months ago and used local roads and footpaths, such as the Buchan Railway Line, to train for the walk. Mr Mathieson and his wife Avril have been regularly visiting the Maggie’s Centre since last year. The couple decided to raise money to give something back for the support they have received.
Mr Mathieson said: “The centre has been a great place of help and comfort to us through this life-changing journey.”
