Man, 31, admits sex assault on woman at Aberdeen nightclub

Aberdeen Sheriff Court

A man has admitted sexually assaulting a woman at an Aberdeen nightclub.

Adeniyi Olushanu, 31, admitted carrying out the assault on a woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, at the city’s Cotton Club and Cafe Bardot premises.

The offence – which took place on May 24, 2015 – involved Olushanu grabbing hold of the woman, trying to kiss her, before touching her.

Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard the pair did not know each other, but had a brief conversation at the club.

Later the woman was walking through the corridor which connects Cotton Club and Cafe Bardot when Olushanu “grabbed her arm”.

Fiscal Depute Christopher Macintosh said she “resisted” and tried to “block him”.

The assault continued, and Mr Macintosh said a witness “noticed a struggle in the corridor” and saw Olushanu “forcibly pulling the complainer towards him”.

The woman managed to get away and “fled into the corridor” and was “distressed”.

Olushanu, whose address was given in court papers Dagenham, Essex, will be sentenced next month.
