Man, 48, fined £1,000 after headbutting man in Aberdeen bar

A man has been hit with a £1,000 fine after headbutting a man who barged past him in an Aberdeen pub.

Kevin Hepburn, 48, admitted assaulting the man at The Foundry Bar on Holburn Street on February 17.

Fiscal depute Kelly Mitchell told Aberdeen Sheriff Court the incident happened at about 12.50am, when Hepburn headbutted the man “without warning”.

She added: “CCTV footage was viewed and it showed the complainer shoulder barging past the accused as he entered the dance floor.

“A short time after the accused approached him and headbutted him once on the nose.” The man sustained a “minor cut”.

John McLoone, Hepburn’s solicitor, said: “His position was that the complainer had deliberately invaded his space and his girlfriend’s space and deliberately goaded him.”

Sheriff Gary Aitken told Hepburn, whose address was given as Denview Road, Potterton, it was a “stupid decision in the heat of the moment”.

He added: “I’m sure in the cold light of day you appreciate this is not the way to deal with disagreements.”
