A thief with an “appalling” record who stole more than £7,000 of items from an Aberdeen property has been jailed for 21 months.
David Stewart, 37, appeared at the city’s Sheriff Court for sentencing after previously admitting smashing his way into a property on Polworth Road and stealing belongings on March 21.
The court previously heard a neighbour spotted damage to a kitchen window and phoned one of the householders to make him aware.
Two iPhones and a HP laptop were taken, along with jewellery valued at £6,034, and cash totalling £800.
Peter Shepherd, Stewart’s solicitor, said previously that his client “fully accepts the seriousness of this matter”.
Sheriff William Summers told Stewart, whose address was given in court papers as Bedford Road, Aberdeen, as he jailed him: “There was limited recovery and some irreplacable items were lost. It is clear there was an element of planning in this offence. You have an appalling record.”
