A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder following an alleged incident in the North-east.
Gary Crossan, 30, appeared in private at Peterhead Sheriff Court yesterday accused of assault to severe injury, permanent impairment, danger to life and attempted murder.
His court appearance came after police found a 56-year-old man badly injured at a property in Peterhead on Thursday.
Officers believe the man was hurt between Wednesday night and the early hours of Thursday morning.
He was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious injuries and remains in hospital.
The alleged incident is said to have taken place on Peter Buchan Drive.
Crossan, who is from the Aberdeenshire town, also faces assault charges, two of assault to injury and one of assault to severe injury.
He made no plea or declaration during his appearance and the case was continued for further examination.
Crossan was remanded in custody with the case expected to return to court next week.
