A new hotel is set to open in the North-east early next year.

Travelodge will open the new hotel on Peterhead’s Chapel Street.

The 63-room hotel will sleep up to 120 people.

Last year the firm announced plans for 10 new sites in Scotland – including in the Buchan town – as part of a nationwide expansion programme.

A Travelodge spokesman said: “We are very excited to be opening the first branded value hotel in Peterhead town centre in early 2017. “Peterhead Travelodge is a new-build hotel with 63-rooms over four floors.

“It is designed in Travelodge’s new contemporary brand design and features the company’s new modern room concept.

“The hotel also has a bar cafe where customers can enjoy a breakfast, dinner and bar menu.”

Meanwhile, the first retail unit to open at the Chapel Street development is boutique clothing store Bowbell.

Shop manager Lynn Marr said: “This is the first time I have owned my own business and it has been going really well so far.

“I thought that the town needed something like this so the opportunity came up and I decided to go for it.”
