LIVE music is set to return to the Christmas Village this weekend – despite acts being called off earlier this week.
Musical performances in the event’s entertainment marquee were cancelled after Aberdeen Inspired, who help organise the Aberdeen Winter Festival, received two noise complaints.
But Aberdeen Inspired today confirmed that live acts would resume on Saturday following further discussions.
An Aberdeen Inspired spokesperson said: “The decision to curtail the live music at the weekend was not taken lightly.
“Understandably there has been a great deal of discussion about the best way forward and we are pleased the situation has been resolved, with confirmation that the programme of live music will resume on Boxing Day.
“The popularity of the live music was demonstrated by the strength of the reaction to the decision to cancel performances, but that course of action was required to allow the options to be assessed.
“Having done that and after listening to the public’s view, we are preparing for the programme to continue this weekend.
“We are delighted many more people will now be able to enjoy live music at the village.
“Over the course of the opening three weeks thousands have attended and been treated to a free programme which has showcased a diverse range of talent in front of appreciative Aberdeen audiences.
“As with any event of this size there are operational issues which are addressed on a daily basis and the team has made a decision taking into account a variety of considerations.
“We are proud of what has been delivered at the Aberdeen Christmas Village in its first year, the biggest and best attraction of its type the city has had.”
