Lifeboat launched to help swimmer off North-east coast

A North-east lifeboat was launched earlier this evening to help a swimmer in difficulty.

An RNLI Peterhead Tamar Lifeboat ‘The Misses Robertson of Kintail’ was requested by UK Coastguard at 3.15pm today after receiving a report that a man was having trouble off Cruden Bay Beach.

A spokesperson for Peterhead RNLI said: “The gentleman safely managed to swim back to the shore, and the launch was canceled at 3.30pm prior to the lifeboat leaving Peterhead Bay.

“The lifeboat returned to its station at 3.40pm.”
