An Aberdeen university is to host a lecture on the notorious Stephen Lawrence murder case.
Robert Gordon University’s (RGU) School of Creative and Cultural Business will host the lecture by Brian Cathcart, Professor of Journalism at Kingston University and author of Orwell Prize-winning book The Case of Stephen Lawrence.
The event, on Wednesday at the Aberdeen Business School, will focus on the role the Daily Mail newspaper played in the Stephen Lawrence case.
The case shocked the nation and the police investigation into the killing, which allowed the murderers to remain free for 18 years, was a high profile issue.
Prof Cathcart’s talk will analyse the role the media played in highlighting the injustice of the original investigation and its influence in finally bringing two of the perpetrators to justice.
Marking the end of the academic year, the keynote lecture by Prof Cathcart is the culmination of a series of industry partnered events that the university and its associated student society has undertaken.
The talk will take place in room 221 of the Aberdeen Business School.
