A COUNCIL boss today said she would like to see ballad queen Celine Dion be the first person to perform at the new Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre
City council leader Jenny Laing spoke after the planning committee’s green light for the £333 million project in Bucksburn.
Cllr Laing said the decision showed the city was “open for business” and could compete on a “global scale”.
And when asked who she would like to see come and perform the first gig at the AECC, Cllr Laing said: “Celine Dion.”
Cllr Laing added: “We want to be the kind of place people want to live and work in.
“If we’re to maintain the buoyancy of the last number of decades, we need to invest in infrastructure that will provide economic benefit.
“We need to secure oil and gas but also diversify the economy.
“The new facility will provide the flexibility to attract different exhibitions, large and small, competing on a global scale.”
