Jennifer Stewart quits Lib Dems, result could mean Labour/Tory/Independent coalition in Aberdeen

A veteran councillor has dramatically left the Liberal Democrat group, paving the way for a Labour, Tory and independent coalition.

Councillor Jennifer Stewart, who represents Hazlehead/Ashley/Queens Cross, announced to a meeting of all councillors that she is stepping away from the party and will become Independent.

If she joins other independent candidates in working with the Conservatives and Labour, they would have 23 councillors with a majority of one.
