INQUIRIES were carried out at an Aberdeen nightclub after safety fears were raised about its smoking area.
Concerns were reported to Aberdeen City Council after footage emerged of smokers penned in to a smoking area at The Underground Klub, which appeared to only be accessible from an emergency exit.
Council officers worked with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service to discuss the issues with the club.
Councillor Alan Donnelly said: “We have standards officers who are employed to look at this.
“If any nightclub has a smoking area, they need to make sure it’s safe. If not, then we will be coming down heavily on them.”
The council and fire service spoke to Underground bosses about “a number of issues” and have now deemed the club’s set-up safe.
