An investigation is ongoing to catch a man who tried to rob a shop using a craft knife.
As reported in later editions of yesterday’s Evening Express, a man attempted to rob the L&M Stores on Hutcheon Street. The incident happened at around 1.25am yesterday.
When the shop worker refused, the man left in the direction of George Street and police were called. The man was covering his face with a dark baseball cap and a hood and is descried as being between 20 to 25 years old.
The shop’s director Leslie Kilminster told the Press and Journal: “He had bare hands, so he left handprints on the door. And he came back to try to wipe them off. So I think the police will be able to find some DNA.”

Mr Kilminster praised his colleague and said she did “everything right”.
He added: “It was a shock for her, but she is as well as she can be.”
The man was wearing blue and white checked trousers and red Nike trainers.
