Seconday pupils across the north-east will present their solutions to an energy industry challenge next week.
Groups of pupils from 11 schools across the north-east will visit BP’s North Sea headquarters in Aberdeen on Tuesday to demonstrate their science skills to a panel of industry experts.
TechFest’s STEM in the Pipeline event is sponsored by BP, Chevron, ConocoPhillips and the Oil and Gas Authority (OGA).
Alies Bartelds, operations manager at TechFest, said: “STEM in the Pipeline is a brilliant opportunity for secondary pupils to work with academics and industry experts to find out what it is really like to work in the oil and gas industry.
“This is a unique experience for young people to learn about the different roles available in the sector and how the STEM skills learned in the classroom can be applied to industry challenges, such as the one that they’ll be presenting solutions to next week.”
