AN IMAX cinema, 1,000 more parking spaces and a hotel could be added to an Aberdeen shopping centre.
Bosses at Union Square have said they also want to serve up more outlets and restaurants as well as a “family leisure facility” as part of their long-term plans.
The vision for the Guild Street centre was described by Hammerson, which owns and operates Union Square, in response to a planning consultation by the city council.
Hammerson had intended to submit plans by the end of last year but said the council’s decision to bring forward a city centre masterplan – expected to be signed off this summer and a new Local Development Plan by the end of the year – made it better to wait.
Today Union Square general manager Ryan Manson said: “We are always looking at opportunities to improve Union Square and enhance its offering to the people of Aberdeen and the North-east.”
