THE famous Coca-Cola truck could be wheeling into Aberdeen if a group sees its Christmas wish granted.
Aberdeen Inspired today revealed it wants the iconic vehicle to make an appearance at the city’s biggest festive celebration, which will take place in Union Terrace from November 26 to January 3.
The first Christmas Village, spearheaded by Aberdeen Inspired in partnership with Aberdeen City Council, will include a German-style street market, festive fairground rides and an entertainment marquee.
And now the organisers want people at the event to hear the choir and see the words “holidays are coming” emblazoned on the side of the van.
Last year the company missed out Aberdeen on its tour. Beginning its tour on November 28, the vehicle appeared in most major cities and towns across the country.
A spokesman for Coca-Cola today said a decision will be made next month on whether Aberdeen forms part of this year’s route.
She said: “In 2015, the truck will once again go on a national tour, spreading festive cheer to as many people as possible across the country.
“We’re working hard to finalise this year’s truck tour and are looking forward to sharing the official route in early November.”
As part of the winter festival, a skating arena, which was in Union Terrace Gardens last year and the Castlegate in 2013, will be based at the grassed area in front of His Majesty’s Theatre.
