Huge gusts of up to 90 mph are to hit the North-east.
The Met Office has issued a weather warning for wind over the next four days.
And for Friday and Saturday, an amber warning, meaning be prepared, has been issued.
Forecasters expect guts of up to 90 mph to hit higher parts of the North-east, with 80 mph winds expected at lower levels.
A Met Office spokeswoman said: “An amber warning for wind for Friday and parts of Christmas Eve morning are in place.
“We are looking at wind being the issue rather than snow in Grampian.
“The gusts could disrupt transport and may impact on ferries and flights.
“People going away for Christmas must be aware of the weather warning.”
