Runners, walkers and joggers will be able to go the distance at Aberdeen Beach thanks to a new fitness project.
The city council is investigating suitable routes through Westburn and Victoria parks where special markers could be painted to help people keep track of how far they have gone while exercising.
The local authority is also considering expanding the scheme to the Beach Esplanade.
A similar paint job was applied to Hazlehead Avenue which leads to Hazlehead Park.
George Street and Harbour councillor Michael Hutchison said he hopes the new weatherproof markers at the beach could help promote fitness events in the area like the weekly Parkrun at Hazlehead Park.
Cllr Hutchison said: “This was a suggestion from a member of the public who felt that a few distance markers would be a welcome addition along the beachfront.
“I’m pleased council staff have agreed to take this forward. I hope this encourages more people to get active.”
