MORE than 150 air passengers had to get taxis to Aberdeen after their flight was diverted to Edinburgh because of fog.
Flight FPO818T from Palma to Aberdeen, operated by Thomson Airways, had to be redirected to Edinburgh after the plane was unable to land at Dyce in the early hours of Saturday morning. About 45 taxis were used to take passengers from Edinburgh to Aberdeen at around 2am.
A spokesman for Aberdeen International Airport said: “We can confirm that flight FPO818T Palma to Aberdeen was diverted to Edinburgh due to fog. “The decision was taken by the captain to divert to Edinburgh after circling for around 20 minutes.”
A spokeswoman for Thomson Airways said: “Due to the poor weather conditions, the decision was made to continue the passengers’ journeys by road and suitable transport was arranged from Edinburgh to Aberdeen. The safety of our passengers and crew is of paramount importance and we would like to apologise for the delay caused.”
