Historic Aberdeen city centre mural vanishes after more than 30 years

A historic mural in the heart of Aberdeen has been painted over.

The image of a horse and two dogs on the side of Country Ways on Holburn street has been painted over.

For more than 30 years the instantly recognisable image has adorned the gable end of the building, at the junction of Holburn Street and Willowbank Road.

The building as it looked in November 1986.

While it’s not yet known what’s planned for the space, people have taken to social media to suggest that it could be used for as a canvas for next year’s Nuart Festival.

Managers at the shop have been contacted for comment and we’ll update you as soon as we hear more.
