Here’s all the buildings that will be open across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire for Doors Open Day

This year’s Doors Open Day is set to be the biggest one yet – with 12 new Aberdeen venues poised to allow the public in for free this weekend.

The event, which is celebrated across Scotland, allows members of the public access to cultural buildings, encouraging them to appreciate their heritage.

In total 48 buildings are taking part in the city this year – up from 36 in previous years.

Doors Open Day is co-ordinated by the Scottish Civic Trust and has been organised locally by a range of organisations including Aberdeen City Council and the University of Aberdeen.

Chris Croly, local area co-ordinator for Aberdeen Doors Open Day, said: “It’s great to see so many buildings participating this year.

“Doors Open Day remains one of the most popular days in Aberdeen which really does offer something for everyone.”

New buildings taking part this year include Albyn School, Adventure Aberdeen, Rubislaw Parish Church, St Ninian’s Episcopal Church, CFINE, Donside Hydro, Sue Ryder’s Care Village, Ebury House, Aberdeen Treasure Hub and the Confucius Institute.

Stagecoach are also running a free hop on/off bus, which will leave from Aberdeen Sheriff Court at regular intervals throughout the day.

Across the south of Aberdeenshire, buildings will be opening their doors to the public on Saturday, September 16, with buildings in the north open on Sunday, September 17.
