A community partnership is appealing for volunteers to drive a bus – following plans by the council to cut the service.
Ballater Royal Deeside Ltd (BRD), a charity and registered company aimed at promoting the area, has been asked by Aberdeenshire Council to take on the free A2B bus service.
In plans published last month, the council announced an overhaul to services based on demand, which included the cutting of the biweekly service that stops at Braemar, Crathie, Ballater and Banchory.
John Burrows, chairman of BRD, said: “We already have a community bus, and the council have asked if we could take the service on.
“We only have five volunteers to drive the bus currently, which is not enough, so we need to try and build up the volunteer pool that we have.”
