A former north-east care home can be turned into flats, a council has said.
Aberdeenshire Council asked its planning department for permission to convert and refurbish the former Fraserburgh Children’s Home in the town’s Scalloway Park into six apartments, each with one bedroom.
The two-storey building became empty when a newly-built children’s home opened opposite.
Neighbour Wendy Bond formally objected to the application. In her objection letter, she said: “These plans will only bring more grief to those in the area.”
In granting permission, the council said: “The proposed change of use and associated alterations to the building will have minimal impact upon existing residential properties which, although are within the surrounding locality, are at a separation distance which will ensure any potential impact is negligible.”
