The UK Secretary of State for Food has revealed himself to be a fan of Aberdeenshire carrots.
Michael Gove, who grew up in Aberdeen, was answering questions in the UK Parliament about Brexit’s impact on the Scottish food and drink industry.
He said: “Scotland is a very powerful brand.
“Those responsible for the wonderful organic carrots and potatoes of Aberdeenshire work incredibly hard and it is my desire to champion them.
“Discussions about the benefits of leaving the EU I undertake with my Cabinet colleagues go long into the night, often fuelled and sustained by glasses of fine Scotch whisky and smoked salmon.”
