A 10-year-old girl has been airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after being hit by a police van on a North-east road.
The incident, involving a marked police van on a routine patrol, happened in Elgin on Lossiemouth Road, near to Greay’s Walk, at around 7pm yesterday.
The girl was taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital before being flown to ARI with serious injuries.
The road was closed to while an investigation into the incident is carried out.
Police are today appealing for witnesses to the crash to contact them.
Sergeant Rob Warnock said: “Inquiries into the circumstances of the incident are at an early stage and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the police van or the female pedestrian immediately prior to the incident to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
