Gas leak forces North-east school to shut to pupils

A North-east school has been forced to shut today due to a gas leak.

Inverallochy School near Fraserburgh is closed to pupils as there is no hot water or heating in the building.

A statement on Aberdeenshire Council’s website said: “Inverallochy School and Nursery will be closed to pupils Thursday, March 8.

“Due to a gas leak, our boiler is not operational meaning there is no heating or hot water in the building.

“Parents will be notified once the problem has been fixed and the boiler is back in working order again. Apologies for this disruption.”

Meanwhile, Inverurie Academy was to reopen today after being forced to close yesterday due to losing its water supply.

The school sent out a text to parents and carers yesterday to inform them the it would be closed due to a water failure
