A north-east councillor has spoken of her delight as funding was approved for two north-east bridge repairs.
Ellon and district ward member Gillian Owen has welcomed the funding that was approved for the next financial year.
The Formartine Area Committee agreed the bridge works programme which included the design work for the Waterside Bridge in Newburgh and footbridge in Meiklemill.
The footbridge in Meiklemill was damaged in Storm Frank in January 2016 but now £40,000 funding has been approved.
Cllr Owen said: “I have been monitoring the status of the Meiklemill bridge for a number of years, particularly after the dramatic floods of January 2016.
“In 2017/18 it reached the reserve list but this came to nothing as no additional monies became available.
“The financial year 18/19 came and went without any works but this year £40,000 has now been allocated for the design.”
Cllr Owen said some repairs were carried out to the bridge in 2017 but nothing had been done since.
She added: “In the same programme the Waterside Bridge near Newburgh, is again scheduled for design works this year, with bridge refurbishment being carried out in 2020 and 2021.
“I’m delighted this much-needed work in the Ellon and District ward features so prominently.”
