Two men are to host a food drive at tomorrow’s Dons match.
Friends and colleagues Danny Conlon and Kenny McKenna decided to take action after hearing that many people in Aberdeen are often turned away from food banks due to high demand.
The pair will hold donation points in the vicinity of Pittodrie during the Dons match against Hibernian tomorrow, including King’s Community Church and outside of Aberdeen Sports Village.
Danny said: “I was shocked to hear about the crisis in the north-east with regards to the 20+ food banks we have struggling to help the people in need.
“It alarmed me that some food banks could turn away up to 100 people a week from receiving any food at all or just having to prioritise who gets what and when.
“I’m hoping that I, along with a fair few others, can make a difference to this situation.
“We will continue to help throughout the month of November and hopefully be able to help all of the food banks in the north-east in some way.”
