A BUSINESSMAN could be slapped with an enforcement order following a spate of fires at a historic site.
Aberdeen City Council’s planning committee were today set to discuss future options for the Broadford Works – which is owned by Ian Suttie – after a major blaze.
Planning committee convener councillor Ramsay Milne said a paper will go before councillors recommending they grant the council’s head of service permission to issue a dangerous building notice.
Cllr Milne said: “This would give the authority powers to issue notices to make sure access to the site is secure.”
Last Saturday saw more than 40 firefighters battle a blaze at the derelict former textile factory.
The council is also understood to be considering taking action to secure the site, should the developer fail to make the changes. The local authority would then bill the cost of the work back to Mr Suttie.
