Fire crews called to blaze in north-east barn

Firefighters were called after a blaze broke out at a barn on a north-east farm.

The fire started in a straw barn at Tofthills Farm in Kintore at 9.26pm last night with four crews sent to tackle the blaze.

Firefighters put out the blaze around midnight, however, crews remained on scene for a number of hours.

No one was injured in the fire.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We got the call to a barn on fire at Tofthills Farm in Kintore at 9.26pm.”

He added: “We sent four appliances, which is 20 firefighters in total.”

He said two appliances remained at the barn to “dampen down” the area.

He added: “There were no casualties or persons trapped.”

The emergency service used two breathing apparatus and two main jets to put the fire out.
