A woman has been airlifted to hospital following a serious two vehicle collision.
Emergency services were called to the scene at South Road in Peterhead at 2.30pm today.
It is understood that one person was trapped in a vehicle following the with Police Scotland, Fire and Ambulance services all in attendance.
The road has been closed from the Kirk Street roundabout and is likely to remain closed for several hours.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “The two vehicle collision involved a silver Renault Clio and a Silver Honda Civic. We were called to the scene of a serious road traffic collision at 2.3opm with fire services helping the trapped person. The road is currently closed.”
It is understood that a helicopter has been used to take an injured person to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
A fire spokeswoman added: “Two crews from Peterhead were in attendance as we used cutting gear to help free one person trapped in a vehicle.”
