A man hurt in an industrial accident at an Aberdeen car showroom has died in hospital.
Mark Mathers was working at Specialist Cars Volkswagen on Craigshaw Crescent, Aberdeen, at about 9am on Saturday morning when there was an accident involving a roller door.
The 33-year-old, from Inverurie, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.
Despite the best efforts of staff, he passed away last night.
Police have since been providing support to his loved ones.
Mark’s family today said: “We are devastated by what has happened.
“Mark will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
“We respectfully request that we are allowed privacy to grieve at this time.”
Detective Inspector Norman Stevenson said: “Our thoughts are with Mark’s family at this very sad time.
“An investigation is ongoing in conjunction with Aberdeen City Council and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
A spokeswoman for Specialist Cars Volkswagen said: “We are all deeply saddened to hear about the tragic loss of Mark Mathers following the incident at our premises on Saturday morning. Our thoughts are with Mark’s family and friends at this terribly difficult time.
