A woman who was jailed for six years for her part in a brutal murder bid on a sleeping man that left him with life-altering brain injuries is appealing against her conviction.
Ashley Duncan was convicted at the High Court in Edinburgh last October – along with Matthew Donaldson and Lee Hutchison – of attempted murder for the attack on Jordan Jones in May 2016.
The trio repeatedly punched, kicked and stamped on Jordan at a house in Auldearn Place in Kincorth, Aberdeen.
He now requires full-time care at a specialist unit in Glasgow and his family are upset by the appeal to the High Court – which they found out about in a letter from the Crown Office.
One relative, who did not want to be named, said: “It’s terrible.
“Even when she was first sentenced I didn’t think it was enough.
“We were really angered, and our concern is now that it will have a real impact on people in our family who are now having counselling for the trauma she has caused us.”
