A popular Aberdeen park cafe is set to reopen on Thursday after an extensive revamp.
The new Duthie Park facility is to include a bigger cafe area with south-facing floor-to-ceiling windows revealing views of the park.
To the rear of the cafe, a newly- glazed wall will have views to tropical palms.
The grand reopening will take place at 11am with entertainment including face-painting and balloon moulding for youngsters and a sing-a-long cabaret for the adults.
Aberdeen City Council convener of communities, housing and infrastructure Councillor Yvonne Allan said: “It’s fantastic the café will be reopened again as it’s in one of our most popular parks which has lots to do for all the family.
“The cafe will complement the other facilities including water features, playparks, Japanese Garden, and the Winter Gardens which it will connect directly to.”
The 134-year-old park had a £5 million refurbishment and reopened in 2013, with funding provided by Aberdeen City Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
A new all-year ice cream parlour with an English tea and Italian Barista Coffee servery extending into the Winter Gardens Fern House will be complete and open to the public in a few weeks.
