Aberdeenshire council has denied being the cause of a decision to axe Christmas celebrations in a North-east town.
Ellon Community Council disbanded on Friday after claiming Aberdeenshire Council restricted them from spending money and making decisions.
As a result the annual Christmas event in the town was cancelled, however, ex-members of the community group have said they will work with the council by handing them the Christmas lights.
But Aberdeenshire Council has said the resignations were of the community group’s own accord.
The local authority added it still wants to see a Christmas lights event in the town this year.
