ONE of the city’s largest school extensions has been designed to deal with rising pupil numbers.
Aberdeen City Council is proposing to extend Greenbrae Primary School in Bridge of Don to deal with future housing developments in the area.
The extended school will provide 330 places for primary pupils as well as offering an additional 80 nursery places.
The existing building was constructed in the late 1970s before a nursery extension was added in 2001.
An internal courtyard was then built in 2006 to increase the school’s dining space.
The need to create a two-storey extension is linked to the growth of the suburb, with a number of new homes being built including at Dubford, which is currently being developed, and a proposed 7,000-home site at Grandhome.
City council finance convener Willie Young today said the extension will benefit children in Bridge of Don for years to come.
