Exhibition to celebrate work of Aberdeen artist

An exhibition celebrating the work of a local artist is set to go on display this weekend.

The new work by Shelagh Swanson, a painter and glassmaker based in Footdee, is inspired by her time as artist in residence at Duthie Park.

Her residency saw her create a mosaic on the side of the David Welch Winter Gardens building with members of the public invited to come along and make a glass tile or help put it together.

The exhibition of new work, which will be on display in the winter gardens, features a range of fused glass panels, lightboxes and paintings, which will be on display around the main entrance foyer and garden area.

It will run until the end of this month.

An accompanying pop-up gallery is also set to take place in the education room in the Japanese Garden.

It features drawings and collages by pupils from Abbotswell, Ferryhill and Walker Road Primary Schools and also a group from Dementia Aware. The pop-up gallery will run Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 4pm.
