Opportunities to join community councils throughout Aberdeen will be under the spotlight at two information sessions this month.
Prospective candidates can find out more about the election process and the role of the groups at events tomorrow and on Monday.
Both sessions will run from 7pm at the Town House and are open to all.
Jenny Laing, co-leader of Aberdeen City Council, is encouraging residents to get involved. She said: “Community councils play a crucial part in local democracy and the work of the volunteer members is hugely appreciated.
“The election period provides an opportunity for more to get involved, people of all ages and backgrounds from all of our communities.”
She added: “I would encourage anyone with an interest in local issues and improving their community as well as the city as a whole to join the information sessions and learn more about how they can play their part.
“As a council we value the input of community councils, part of the wider focus on empowering residents to shape the future.”
Nominations close on September 27 for anyone wishing to put themselves forward.
Elections will be required in the event of nominations exceeding the number of available seats and the polling date is on October 25.
