Two weight loss groups have made a donation to a foodbank after losing almost 26stone in one month.
The Weight Watchers groups, in Bridge of Don and Danestone, donated the equivalent of their 26.5 stone (168.3kg) weight loss to CFINE.
The members of the groups used a special meal plan to shed the pounds, losing it all in the month of May.
Christine McLean, the development manager at CFINE, said: “Your donation has been a wonderful support to very vulnerable families in Aberdeen, your kind donation will feed over 200 hundred people.
“Foodbanks are being used by many more people and numbers are increasing daily, CFINE provides support to all foodbank users on all issues people are facing, if we did not have the support from local groups there would be more of a crisis within Aberdeen.”
Weight loss coach for both groups, Cat Hogg, said: “My members and I are delighted to be able to support a local charity that does such important work, I am so grateful we are able to offer continued support to it.”
The donation comes after CFINE issued an urgent appeal for food following a shortage of donations earlier in the year.
The charity was asking for people to donate non-perishable food, as well as toiletries that could prove expensive for families on low incomes.
