A popular annual festival in the north-east has had its application for a funfair extension granted.
Jensen Codona had applied to provide the entertainment at the Stonehaven Feein Market earlier than Aberdeenshire Council’s policy on circuses and fairgrounds.
Members of the Kincardine and Mearns area committee were told of Mr Codona’s request to start the funfair at the June 2 event at 11am.
The local authority policy only allows a funfair to start at 2pm until 10pm on a Saturday.
However, councillors unanimously agreed to the three-hour extension when they met at Viewmount in Stonehaven yesterday.
The Feein Market is organised by the Stonehaven and district Lions club.
The funfair will run till 5pm.
Director of business services at Aberdeenshire Council Ritchie Johnson said the extension should be approved.
He said: “The application has been to consultation with Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Environmental Health, Building Standards and Ambulance Services. No adverse observations have been received to date in respect of the application.”
