AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a “defenceless” cat was dumped in a bin.
The female cat, who has been named Mindy by Scottish SPCA officers, was discovered inside a bin on Printfield Walk, in the Woodside area of Aberdeen on Friday.
She is now recovering at the Aberdeenshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Drumoak and the charity is appealing for information.
Centre manager Graeme Innes said: “Mindy was found when someone went to put rubbish in the bin.
“She is quite scared and defensive at the moment which is understandable given her terrible ordeal.
“This was a particularly cruel act which would have resulted in Mindy’s death had she not been found.
“It is difficult to comprehend why anyone would do this to a defenceless animal.”
Anyone with information is being urged to contact the Scottish SPCA Animal Helpline on 03000 999 999.
