Driver taken to hospital after car catches fire on North-east road

A driver was taken to hospital today after his car caught fire on a North-east road.

Fire services were called to the incident on the A952 at Ardallie after reports of a car on fire in a lay-by.

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “The call came in at 2.21pm today to a car fire on the A952 and it’s in a lay-by.

“One fire engine is currently in attendance.”

Ambulance and police were also at the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We got the call shortly after at 2.25pm.

“A male driver, whose car it is, has some burns on his hands and he will be on his way to the hospital.

“The fire is out now, we have police units at the scene and the roads have not been closed.”

There is no information on what caused the fire.
