A driver was stopped by police after allegedly running a red light – and was then accused of having an overcrowded car.
The Aberdeen City policing team said the alleged incident took place in the city at the weekend and involved a teenage motorist.
A police spokesman said: “An 18-year-old driver has been charged with allegedly driving through a red light and having six people in a five- seater Vauxhall Corsa.”

The team said one of its priorities is to stop “Fatal 4” motoring offences – travelling at excessive speed, not wearing a seatbelt, drink driving and using phones while driving.
In a separate incident, police based in Rosemount arrested a 38-year-old man for allegedly being abusive to Scottish Ambulance Service staff at the weekend. He was later charged.
“This behaviour towards emergency service workers will not be tolerated,” said a police spokesman.
